Which simon was judas iscariots father

I suspect that Malchus' name may have been mentioned because the miracle led to his conversion. Just a thought. Also, over the years, I have tried to picture how Simon so precisely cut off only Malchus' ear. Now, however, I figure it as a blow that took off a chunk of his head as well, and left a hideous wound, because Peter didn't do things half way, you know. This miracle of grafting and healing must have been an awesome one, and is recounted, therefore, in all four Gospels.

An obvious consideration I overlooked on this subject for some time, however, is the other Simon listed as an apostle, Simon the Canaanite.

You can check out the roll in Matthew , and notice the disciples are coupled off by semicolons, and Simon the Canaanite and Judas Iscariot are the last pair. Perhaps a father and son ministry like you find today. There are many passages in the Bible where the phenomenon of Six 6 and One 1 occur.

Please see the next 2 pages. We are told in Revelation Here is wisdom. So in this passage, John , John is again using the same symbolism.

The accounts in Matthew, Mark and John tell us directly that the meal was in Bethany, at the house of Simon, the leper. In that case, naturally Lazarus would have been sitting at the table with Jesus.

Luke tells us that the supper was at the house of Simon, the Pharisee. Luke And one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him.

And stood at His feet behind Him weeping, and began to wash His feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed His feet, and anointed them with the oil.

Because we have no evidence that Mary was married, her sexual sin must have been fornication or prostitution. Simon, just as many other Pharisees, was quick to point out the sin of others, particularly women, while standing in obnoxious self-righteousness, himself. The Pharisees wanted her to be stoned for her sin! But the hypocritical Pharisees allowed the man involved in the act of adultery, to go free! Simon, the Pharisee, even though having been miraculously healed, by Jesus, of his physical disease, leprosy, had not had a change of heart, witnessed by the following:.

And He Jesus turned to the woman, and said unto Simon. I entered into your house, you gave Me no water for My feet; but she has washed My feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. You gave me no kiss; but this woman since the time I came in has not ceased to kiss My feet. My head with oil you did not anoint; but this woman has anointed my feet with oil. How would Judas know the whereabouts of the leaders of the Jews who were plotting to kill Jesus?

Judas was a purported follower of Jesus. The Pharisees and Chief Priests were meeting at night , in secret , to plot the arrest and death of Jesus. This was a very private, secret session. The quarters where they were meeting would have been heavily guarded and only those familiar to, and in league with, the plotters would have been allowed entrance.

Certainly they would never have allowed a true follower of Christ to enter their meeting! The common man would have no idea where they were meeting, and certainly would not be allowed to just walk in and sit down and talk with them. Judas clearly had to have been in league with those who planned to arrest Jesus, otherwise he would not have known their whereabouts, and would not have been able to gain easy entrance!

However, Judas may not have known that the leaders of the Jews were planning to kill Jesus. We now know that the supper was at the home of Simon, the leper, and that Simon, the leper, was also a Pharisee. The only reason the author, John, would make this connection right here in this passage is to tell us that Judas Iscariot was, indeed, the son of Simon, the Pharisee, who had been healed of his leprosy by Jesus. We know that the Bible always refers to Judas, the betrayer of Christ, as Judas Iscariot, to differentiate him from another one of the disciples named Judas.

Well, the Concordant translation of the Bible, a literal translation, and the purest even though not Perfect translation of the Bible that I have found reveals the following:. John , Simon clearly was not a follower of Jesus. He revealed it by the poor way he treated Jesus as a guest in his home. First, notice from the dates of when these individual Gospel books were believed to be penned that the Gospel account of John was written much later than the Gospel accounts of Matthew, Mark and Luke.

Although Peter and John had known each other since their days as fishermen on the Galilee, their friendship extended throughout their time with Jesus, through the post-resurrection period of the early Church, and long after the documented Acts of the Apostles see: Mt ; Mt ; Mr ; Mr ; Mr ; Mr ; Lu ; Lu ; Lu ; Lu ; Joh ; Ac ; Ac ,,11; Ac ,19; Ac Paul's writing in the book of Galatians, about the point in Church history where the disciple's ministry diverged into two separate and distinct mission directions, reveals that Peter and John even continued working together afterwards:.

Paul, of course, finally ended up in Rome. Peter, on the other hand, finally ended up in Babylon in Mesopotamia 1 Peter , according to the Holy Bible. John and Peter traveled together for many years before they finally parted ways.

It was only after those days that the Gospel of John was written. It would be a safe bet to assume that John knew Simon Peter better than anyone else in the Bible, other than the Lord Himself. John was acquainted with Peter going all the way back to what country folks would call the young man's hell raisin' days , so he probably knew a thing or two about the old boy and his ways.

But, if I was a betting man, I'm inclined to think that John did not learn the truth about this particular matter until much later in their relationship. More than likely, Peter only shared this truth with his lifelong friend John when the two were alone, possibly sitting around a fire on a dark night along a lonely shoreline or forest near the Aegean Sea.

I'm talking about one of those times when a man has something gnawing at his conscience that is hurting him so bad that he just has to talk with a trusted friend and get it off his chest.

Regardless of where and when, John knew about it and the Holy Ghost made sure the matter was included in the Gospel according to John. As for the second question, knowing about this doctrinal truth from the Gospel according to John benefits your personal studies of the Holy Bible.

It provides a backstory insight into the life of Simon Peter that can help the reader correctly discern an answer to these three important questions in the Gospel accounts:. Two - What was the real reason that the faithful Peter denied Jesus on the night He was arrested? And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. In regards to the last question, I'll give you a couple of clues to point you in the right direction.

It was not for money.
