Why iweb discontinued

Beginner level apps, like iWeb, Sandvox, RapidWeaver, Freeway etc, generate huge amounts of code which is why they are slow to download in the browser if you go beyond a really simple page - unless you use an optimizer app to help things out.

The iWeb for Musicans site has over pages and am not about to rebuild it in view of the fact that iWeb is only going to be viable for a limited time.

This process is made easier due to the fact that I don't use iWeb features such as template, navigation, slideshow blog or podcast. Those who do have a blog should consider moving it, and all the comments, to Wordpress before its too late. Get help with transferring the comments HERE. I didn't know Weebly offered "subpages" and your taking the time to include the links lets one go and check things out. From free to as complex as one wants Question: Q: Is iWeb being discontinued? Would'nt that be awesome if iWeb were to be kept supported, so far about five companies and institutions which I know of that have gone back to windows hardware for their online content creations because they didn't want to be lured down a dead-end street by apple and then having no way out via export or other conversion.

I would so much love to play mouse during one of these apple meetings where they decide to discontinue a product or so Jan 16, AM. Jan 16, PM in response to thadfrompenzance In response to thadfrompenzance. It has themplates availalbe or you can start from scratch.

Also, companies should be thinking about a professional package such as DreamWeaver which is avaiable in both a Mac and PC version.

Also the content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress that provide good alternatives. There are lots of other good Mac options out there without having to go back to a PC and Windows. Jan 17, AM. Jan 17, AM in response to iyarina In response to iyarina. Yes, there are quite a lot of alternative, including Dreamweaver, Wordpress, Joomla, or even the sitebuilder your host offered.

I tried Rapidweaver, and Flux is nice too. I am a Wordpress user myself. But since my host messed up mySQL I have lost hope in it, especially when trying to update automatically. There are always a wrong line of code somewhere which remains a mystery for me. Thus, I switch my blog to iWeb, loosing 3 years of blogging, and start fresh new blog. And I found iWeb is very good for mere mortals.

And I believe there are many like myself out there, who would like to create a DIY website without having to tight up in worrying with whether this code work or not, or where did my code went wrong and focus in the content. Of course, at some level, we will eventually move on and look for another challenge, the more sexier stuff like HTML5, CSS 3, or what have you.

But in the mean time, please save the very thing that allow the rest of us to publish a simple website and perhaps adds some recent enhancement to it. Jan 17, AM in response to n0sm0 In response to n0sm0.
